Half-timbered houses and old farms
Timber-framed buildings with a visible wooden frame shape many villages. Joints between the beams and the infill, as well as open roof spaces, give mice and martens shelter.
Fruit growing and farming
The nickname “Mostindien” (roughly “Cider India”) comes from fruit growing. In late summer, windfall fruit, cider presses and livestock attract wasps and flies.
