  • Trail of ants

Lots of ants keep following the same track, for example along the skirting board to sugar, jam or pet food.

  • Sand from joints

Small piles of fine soil or sand at tile joints, on terraces and in cracks in the wall show where the colony is digging.

  • Tiny yellowish ants

Pharaoh ants live entirely indoors, in warm cavities behind walls or pipes. They often turn up in bathrooms and kitchens.

  • Winged ants

If lots of winged ants swarm out of a joint in summer, the nest is directly behind it.

Useful facts about ants

In Swiss homes, it is usually one of two species: the black garden ant, which moves from the garden into the house in spring, and the tiny Pharaoh ant, which lives in warm buildings all year round.

Workers leave scent trails that the others follow. In this way, a single food source quickly turns into a trail right across the kitchen.

Both species can only be got rid of for good by dealing with the nest. Killing the visible ants often just causes the colony to split. With Pharaoh ants this is particularly tricky, because new nests then form throughout the building.

How it works

From your call onwards, we take over – step by step.

  1. You call us

You describe the colour and size of the ants and where the trail runs. This often already narrows down the species.

  2. Finding the nest and trail

On site, the specialist follows the trail, identifies the species and looks for where the colony is located.

  3. Treating the colony

The ants carry a bait into the nest and use it to feed the whole colony. This tackles the infestation at its root.

What you’ll want to know before calling

Honest answers to the questions almost everyone asks. We are happy to clarify anything else in person.

What does it cost?

Our prices are transparent and fair. Give us a call – we will discuss your situation and the next steps.

Is it safe for children and pets?

Bait is placed in small amounts in spots that children and pets cannot reach. You are told in advance what to keep in mind.

Will it stay discreet?

Yes. We arrive in neutral, unmarked vehicles and make sure your case is handled discreetly, so that outsiders notice nothing of the infestation.

How long does it take?

Bait does not work immediately. After one to two weeks things should be noticeably calmer; with Pharaoh ants it takes longer.

Questions about ants

Your question isn’t listed?

Why do more and more ants keep coming, even though I kill them?

The ants on the trail are only a small part of the colony. As long as the queen is alive in the nest, the colony keeps sending out new workers.

Are ants dangerous?

Garden ants are a nuisance but harmless. Pharaoh ants can spread germs in hospitals and food businesses and should be controlled quickly.

Why do the ants come in spring in particular?

With the first warm days, the colonies in the garden become active and look for food. The workers find their way into kitchens and living spaces through joints.

Do home remedies such as baking powder or cinnamon help?

At most, they drive the ants away from one spot for a short time. They do not reach the colony.
