Typical signs
These signs point to an infestation. On the phone, we help you assess what you have found.
Beetles in food stores
Tiny, reddish-brown drugstore beetles or grain weevils in flour, bread products, spices or cereals. The larvae develop directly in the stored food.
Small holes in packaging
Fine, round holes in cardboard and film, along with flour dust or crumbs in the cupboard, show that beetles have eaten their way through.
Hairy larvae and skins
Brownish, bristly larvae or their empty skins at the edges of carpets, in the wardrobe or near pet food usually come from larder beetles.
Bare patches in wool
Irregular feeding damage in carpets, woollen clothes or upholstery and small, mottled beetles at the window point to carpet beetles.

Useful facts about beetles
Beetles in the home are usually stored product or material pests. Drugstore beetles and grain weevils live in flour and cereals, while larder and carpet beetles feed on animal-based materials such as wool, leather or pet food.
Many of these species are only a few millimetres long. The actual damage is usually done by the larvae, which develop well hidden in packets, cracks or the edges of carpets.
Because control depends heavily on the species, accurate identification comes first. After that, the source can usually be removed in a targeted way, without having to treat large areas of the kitchen.
How it works
From your call onwards, we take over – step by step.
-
You call us
You describe where you find the beetles and what is affected. With a photo we can narrow down the species over the phone.
-
Identification and finding the source
On site, the species is identified and the source of the infestation tracked down, such as an old packet, a pet food store or a bird’s nest.
-
Control and monitoring
Depending on the species, hiding places are treated in a targeted way or traps are set. The traps then show whether any beetles are still about.

Honest answers to the questions almost everyone asks. We are happy to clarify anything else in person.
What does it cost?
Our prices are transparent and fair. Give us a call – we will discuss your situation and the next steps.
Is it safe for children and pets?
We work with particular care in kitchens and storerooms. Food is cleared away beforehand, and you will be told when you can restock the cupboards.
Will it stay discreet?
Yes. We arrive in neutral, unmarked vehicles and make sure your case is handled discreetly, so that outsiders notice nothing of the infestation.
How long does it take?
Once the source is found, an infestation in food stores is often quickly under control. With larder or carpet beetles in textiles, it can take several weeks.

Questions about beetles
Your question isn’t listed?
Ask us directly: 043 508 75 29
Where do beetles in the food cupboard come from?
Usually eggs or larvae are already in a packet you have bought. From there the beetles move on into other food.
Are stored product beetles harmful to health?
The beetles themselves do not sting. But their droppings and shed skins contaminate the food and can trigger allergies.
Can beetles come from a bird’s nest?
Yes. Larder and carpet beetles often develop in birds’ nests under the roof or in dead insects and move from there into the home.
Why are there small beetles at the window?
Adult carpet beetles fly towards the light and outdoors, where they feed on pollen. Meanwhile, their larvae stay in carpets and upholstery.
